CNC Machining & Fabricated Products

2019

Justin McDonaldComment

Wow, where do I start? Sorry for the delay on blog activity. 2018 was a very interesting year. In May we welcomed our second child to our family. I basically put business on the back burner as much as I could to try and be the best dad I can be when kids need it the most. As of now, Harlee is almost 8 months old, and Finley is gonna be turning 5 in March. He is everything I ever wanted in a boy, and keeping us on our toes.

The plan for 2019:

Take everything I have learned about machining in the past 2 years, and plow through the parts I have made, while making them better, along with easier to manufacture. I’m going to do the best I can at getting inventory in stock. I have a new version of the ABA SRI I’m trying to get done, along with some special edition parts I will be releasing that will be some small batch stuff! Also the 3.6 VR6 version of the head flange and full DIY kit should be ready during the first quarter sometime. The 2.5 has been put on hold for a bit, but i will get it! The other big question i get is the 2.8 24valve head flange. I’m hoping to have that full get developed soon also.

The other project I have been working on, is The Smurf race car. We are shooting to get the ABA engine into the 8’s this year. This has taken a lot of my free time up. But we hope it will be well worth it. Spring time will be some shake down runs. Hopefully in July we will get to take it out to New Jersey, and bring a couple of friends/cars with us for Waterfest!

Personal car project, the MK3 GTI VR6 that landed in my lap last year, the 276 cams and SRI will be thrown on it as soon as I am done working on the race car.

Ill do my best to get a blog post up a bit more often to keep people up to date!

Once again thanks for all the awesome support!

VR6 Short Runner Manifold.

Justin McDonald2 Comments

Over the last year or so, I've really been trying to get a production manifold going.  Well over the last 5 months things have come to life, Steen helped me out with some before and after Dyno tests out at Techtonics Tuning. We changed nothing but the manifold, which included a 1.8t intake sensor in it.   He cracked 200whp with his mild little build.  Man, this thing is a sweet car! Last weekend at the NW bug run, at Woodburn drag strip.  He was top 5 in drag racing,  running consistent 13.5 passes.....  Following that up with best Mk1,  and then after that he Took home the best of show hardware!  Pretty stoked about that!  Can't wait to see it at some future shows!

Just an update,  I'm still here working away on things. Turbo M5 build is the biggest thing.  Along with the NubWorks VR6 SRI hopefully the final test fit this weekend,  and then some dyno testing soon!    Stay tuned for new parts getting added to the sight as soon as I get them machined!

Wow, its been a while! Lots has happened in the last 8 months.  I went to school to learn some Manual machining, Im gonna call it old school, Bridgeport Mill, and some Lathe work.  Lately I've been doing an internship working on the CNC side of machining, while also trying to learn programing, and keeping up on my design efforts. This has all been going on after my regular 50 hour a week job.   Gotta do what ever it takes to follow your dreams right?    Well I'm excited to say that next week, chips are gonna start flying on some parts!  Just working on restocking some already existing items.  But I can say that I had a major hand in writing the programs and machining the whole part from start to finish.   In the next few months, I hope to be working on a new website front, with new pictures of content.  Also possibly a slight logo change, we will see how that goes.   Thanks everyone for your continued Orders, and inquires about different projects!

Lots going on around here

Justin McDonald1 Comment

Things have been busy around here as always, with my son and a regular 40 hour a week job,  Nubworks really isn't where I want it to be!  Ive been working on some connections to change that,  Next week a new journey begins to help me learn the machining side of my parts!  I help in all of there designs at the start, but now its time to go to the next level. This will help get the volume up, new designs coming, and the best part,  costs can hopefully go down on the customer side of things!  Ill try to post more updates when I get time!  Also, new email sales@nubworksfabrication.com for any questions!

B5 Audi A4, VR6 Swap

Justin McDonaldComment

So this is a slow going project I have going on for a friend. It has become a common swap in the Audi world. The 2.8 30valve v6, being swapped out with a 3.0 12valve VR6, along with a bit of custom NubWorks pieces. Turbo manifold has been mocked up for a while. The motor mounts are almost finished. Next up is the plenum plate being mounted to the lower intake section I cut off.   Progress will be updated every once in a while for everyone's enjoyment.
